This page aims to present interesting teaching and learning tasks that are related to NSW History K-6 syllabus. These activities stimulate inquiry, cooperation, and creativity and assist the students in the construction of historical knowledge by real-life exploration of the Elizabeth Farm.

Stage 2 Focus - Community and Remembrance .
Syllabus Outcomes:
HT2-2: describes and explains how individuals, groups, and events of importance caused changes in the local community.
HT2-4: Shows the competencies of historical research and presentation.
Key Inquiry Questions:
- What was the way people used to live and work in the past?
- Since 1793 what has been the change in the local community?
- How do we know about the past?
Concepts that have been developed in History:
• Continuity and change
• Cause and effect
• Perspectives and empathy

Stage 3 Focus - Australian Colonies
Syllabus Outcomes:
• HT3-2: defines and details the meaning of people, groups, places and events to the growth of Australia.
• HT3-5: Uses diverse skills of historical inquiry and communication.
Key Inquiry Questions:
• So, what do we learn about the life of colonial people in Australia?
• How did the colonisation of Australia affect the environment and the Aboriginals?
• Why did the people migrate to Australia and what was their experience?
Historical Concepts Formulated:
• Cause and effect- the research into the aftermath of colonisation.
• Significance - the role of the Macarthurs on wool production.
• Empathy -learning about Aboriginal and settler views.

Priorities in Cross Curriculum

• Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures - understanding the Aboriginal views and relationship with land.
• Sustainability - knowing how the early settlers utilised and transformed their surrounding.
